the artelier-cave
Many a cozy evening was spent painting in the studio space (affectionately known as the "Artelier", or "The Cave") below Watsons. Once a cold, dark and dusty place, we jazzed it up with furniture, easels and quirky lighting while a portable radio blasted Bon Jovi hits. We also papered up all the glass walls, leaving space for a mannequin artwork made of blue masking tape to be seen.
There was no end to curious passersby peeping in, most of whom believed it was some kind of publicity stunt! (True.) We even hosted a little pizza get-together with the SMUSAIC photographers, before Deborah, Ye Hui and Vanessa took over the space for their Red Bull projects. Sadly, we were allowed only three months to use the studio, and by the time the new semester came round, the Artelier-Cave was no more.
